Melbourne (2) → Warrnambool (2) → Port Campbell (1) →
Mornington Peninsula (3)
Soak in Victoria’s best thermal springs and ocean baths while exploring the region’s stunning coastline and vibrant local culture. A relaxing journey through natural mineral waters, iconic landmarks like the 12 Apostles, and charming wine regions
Melbourne
Australia’s cultural capital, Melbourne thrives on contrasts: Victorian arcades and cutting-edge laneway cafés, grand theatres and street art alleys. By day, browse galleries like the NGV or cycle along the Yarra; by night, the city hums with rooftop bars, hidden speakeasies, and live music. A short drive takes you into vineyard country, while within the city, wellness seekers can find stylish spas and bathhouses offering mineral pools and hammams. Melbourne is a city to linger in — cosmopolitan yet grounded, where food, art, and ritual bathing weave into everyday life.
Hepburn
The mineral heart of Victoria, Hepburn has been a spa retreat since the 19th century. Springs bubble across the landscape, feeding bathhouses, hydrotherapy pools, and historic pump houses where locals still fill bottles to take home. Elegant guesthouses and wellness resorts carry on the tradition, pairing mineral soaks with massage and mud treatments. Surrounding bushland invites gentle walks among eucalyptus and mineral reserves, while cafés and galleries add a creative flair. Hepburn is a place where water, health, and heritage flow together.
Mornington Peninsula
An hour from Melbourne, the Mornington Peninsula feels worlds away: rolling vineyards, olive groves, and hot springs overlooking gentle bays. Bathing here ranges from open-air thermal pools carved into the hillsides to private wellness pavilions offering clay rituals and sea-breeze saunas. The coastline shifts from family-friendly beaches to surf breaks and wild headlands, while inland you’ll find cellar doors pouring cool-climate wines. With its blend of indulgence and nature, the peninsula is Melbourne’s favourite escape for both spa-goers and gourmands.
Victorian High Country
In the foothills of the Australian Alps, the Victorian High Country pairs alpine drama with rural hospitality. In winter, skiers and snowboarders carve the slopes; in summer, hikers and cyclists trace ridges and valleys. Scattered throughout are hot springs and wellness lodges, offering mineral baths and mountain-view saunas. Local produce is central here — farmhouse cheeses, craft beers, and regional wines shared around long tables. The High Country is invigorating yet restorative, shaped equally by its crisp mountain air and warm community spirit.
Warrnambool
On the rugged edge of the Great Ocean Road, Warrnambool is shaped by sea and story. Waves crash against basalt cliffs while Southern Right whales calve offshore in winter. The town pairs maritime heritage — best seen in Flagstaff Hill’s living museum — with natural hot springs that invite travellers to soak under wide skies. Coastal trails lead to wild beaches and the volcanic tower of Tower Hill Reserve, home to emus and koalas. Warrnambool feels both raw and restorative, a place where the ocean’s power meets the quiet healing of thermal waters.
Port Campbell
Gateway to the Twelve Apostles, Port Campbell is a small coastal town with outsized drama. Golden limestone stacks rise from the Southern Ocean, sculpted by waves into arches and gorges that glow at sunset. Between cliff walks and photography stops, visitors can return inland to discover boutique spa lodges and mineral-rich bathing pools tucked into farmland valleys. Seafood straight from the coast and local cheeses complete the picture, grounding the grandeur of the landscape in warm hospitality. Port Campbell is as much a place to restore as to marvel.
Day 1: Arrival in Melbourne
Arrive in Melbourne and check into your spa-style city hotel. Shake off travel fatigue with a rooftop soak or hammam, then step into the city’s cultural heart — Federation Square, laneway cafés, and the NGV’s world-class collections. Dinner at one of Melbourne’s acclaimed restaurants introduces Victoria’s seasonal produce.
Day 2: Hepburn Springs & Macedon Ranges
Head north to the mineral spa capital of Daylesford (1.5 hrs). Soak in the Hepburn Bathhouse & Spa, where heritage springs have drawn visitors for over a century. Lunch at a vineyard in the Macedon Ranges, perhaps Hanging Rock Winery, with panoramic views. Return to Melbourne by evening.
Day 3: Melbourne → Warrnambool via Geelong & the Great Ocean Road
Depart Melbourne for Geelong (1 hr). Bathe at the Geelong Eastern Beach Sea Baths, overlooking Corio Bay, then continue onto the legendary Great Ocean Road. Wind past surf beaches, seaside towns, and cliffside lookouts before arriving in Warrnambool (2.5 hrs). Settle into the Deep Blue Hotel & Hot Springs, your first coastal geothermal retreat.
Day 4: Warrnambool’s Waters & the Shipwreck Coast
Spend the morning immersed in Deep Blue’s open-air geothermal pools, where steam rises against the Southern Ocean. In the afternoon, discover the region’s maritime history at Flagstaff Hill or walk the foreshore trails. Optional: spot southern right whales (June–Sept).
Day 5: Warrnambool → Port Campbell via the Great Ocean Road
Follow the most dramatic stretch of the Great Ocean Road (1 hr), stopping at Loch Ard Gorge, Gibson Steps, and the iconic 12 Apostles. In the afternoon, relax at the 12 Apostles Hot Springs & Resort, where pools are carved into a natural amphitheatre. Overnight in Port Campbell.
Day 6: Port Campbell → Mornington Peninsula
Continue along the final stretch of the Great Ocean Road, with its sweeping sea cliffs and coastal villages, before turning inland. A longer drive (4 hrs) brings you to the Mornington Peninsula, where vineyards meet the sea. Check into your spa lodge and enjoy an evening soak at Peninsula Hot Springs.
Day 7: Phillip Island Hot Springs & Penguins
Take a short excursion to Phillip Island (1.5 hrs). Soak in the eco-pools of Phillip Island Hot Springs, framed by coastal bushland, then visit the Koala Conservation Reserve. Stay into the evening for the unforgettable Penguin Parade, as hundreds of little penguins waddle ashore. Return to the Peninsula.
Day 8. Alba Thermal Springs & Red Hill Wine Country
Dedicate the day to indulgence at Alba Thermal Springs & Spa, where architecturally designed pools flow through landscaped gardens. Pair your bathing with treatments, yoga, or meditation. In the afternoon, explore Red Hill’s vineyards and olive groves, finishing with a farm-to-table dinner.
Day 9. Mornington Peninsula → Melbourne
Your final morning begins with a seaside walk or one last soak. On the drive back to Melbourne (2 hrs), stop at Portsea Sea Baths or Sorrento Ocean Pools. If time allows, pause at Brighton’s iconic bathing boxes before ending with a farewell dinner in Melbourne
Day 10. Depart Melbourne
After breakfast, enjoy a final slow moment in Melbourne, perhaps a walk along the Yarra River or a quiet coffee in one of the city’s famed laneway cafés, before you transfer to Melbourne Airport for your onward journey. You leave carrying the warmth of Victoria’s mineral springs, and the easy balance of coast, countryside, and culture.
