South Korea
Tailor-Made Hot Spring Holidays
South Korea distills centuries of oncheon tradition into an irresistible wellness playground
Drift between multi-temperature mineral tubs scented with ginseng and camellia, plunge into salted stone pools, then recharge on heated ondol floors under hanok roofs.
Hunt hidden valley springs in Gangwon, sip barley tea beside seaside oncheon, and cap your day with late-night soaks and kimchi-fuelled comfort—this is hot-spring travel perfected by true insiders.

Seoul
A city of contrasts, Seoul blends glittering skyscrapers with tranquil palaces and mountain trails. In one moment you’re beneath the neon signs of Myeongdong, sampling street food skewers; in the next, you’re walking through the quiet courtyards of Gyeongbokgung or hiking up to panoramic views from Namsan. The capital is also a spa hub, home to lively jjimjilbang bathhouses where locals gather for saunas, scrubs, and rest. It’s a metropolis that never stands still, yet always offers a corner of calm for body and spirit.

Onyang Hot Springs
South of Seoul lies Onyang, Korea’s oldest hot spring resort, famed for waters that have drawn emperors and scholars since the Baekje kingdom. The town’s bathhouses and hotels still channel these mineral springs, offering soaks said to ease circulation and restore energy. Beyond the baths, Onyang reveals a slower pace — tree-lined boulevards, local markets, and a legacy of healing rituals woven into everyday life. It’s both a retreat from the capital and a living link to Korea’s centuries-old bathing tradition.

Busan
South Korea’s port city stretches between mountains and sea, where golden beaches meet bustling fish markets and hillside temples. Jagalchi Market buzzes with seafood stalls, while Haeundae and Gwangalli beaches bring a resort feel to urban life. Hot springs and jjimjilbang bathhouses are part of the rhythm here, offering relaxation after a day exploring coastal trails or the colourful alleys of Gamcheon Culture Village. Busan is both lively and laid-back — a city shaped by salt air and sea breezes.

Gyeongju
Known as “the museum without walls,” Gyeongju was once the capital of the Silla dynasty, and its heritage lingers in temple eaves, ancient tombs, and lantern-lit streets. Bulguksa Temple and Seokguram Grotto, both UNESCO treasures, reveal the spiritual artistry of early Korea. The city’s tumuli parks, filled with grassy royal burial mounds, sit alongside quiet teahouses and markets. Cycling through the city or joining an evening lantern ritual connects you to a history that feels deeply alive.

“We didn’t want a typical honeymoon, and Cate completely got that. She planned the perfect mix of rainforest lodges, hot springs in Arenal, and downtime on the Nicoya Peninsula. Soaking in the thermal river near Rincón de la Vieja was a dream, totally wild and peaceful. The whole trip felt like us, adventurous, calm, and deeply restorative.”
— Lara & Jade, London
“We’d never thought to plan a trip around hot springs, but now we’re converts! Every stop had its own vibe with sleek spa hotels mixed in with natural river pools surrounded by wildflowers. Cate’s passion for bathing traditions came through in every detail. We slowed down, and we truly felt good.”
— Richard & Emma H., Bristol
“I’ve travelled to Japan before, but this was different, more meaningful. Cate understood exactly what I was looking for and created a trip that felt deeply personal. From tiny riverside onsens to forest hikes ending in cedar-scented springs, it was everything I didn’t know I needed. I came back grounded, recharged, and already dreaming about the next one.”
— Sophie M., UK
