Carve your way through Canada’s wild winter wonderland on this ski and soak circuit along British Columbia’s legendary Powder Highway. There's mountain towns, mineral pools, and big terrain in every direction.
Calgary
Calgary blends cowboy heritage with modern energy, a city of glass towers set against the backdrop of the Rockies. Each July, the Calgary Stampede celebrates its frontier spirit, while year-round the city thrives on a lively food, music, and arts scene. Wellness here comes from proximity — mountain air, wide skies, and quick access to thermal springs and national parks just beyond. Calgary is both cosmopolitan and outdoorsy, a launchpad where the prairies meet the peaks.
Banff
Nestled within a national park of soaring peaks and turquoise lakes, Banff is Canada’s alpine jewel. The town’s historic Upper Hot Springs continue a tradition of mountain bathing, with steaming pools overlooking the surrounding ranges. Trails lead to emerald valleys and glaciers, while the town itself hums with cafés, galleries, and mountain lodges. Wildlife sightings — elk, bears, bighorn sheep — remind visitors of the wilderness just beyond the streets. Banff is dramatic and restorative, a rare balance of wild beauty and timeless spa culture.
Kicking Horse
Perched above Golden, British Columbia, Kicking Horse is a ski resort with some of the steepest terrain in the Rockies. Powder-filled bowls and long alpine runs draw skiers and snowboarders in winter, while summer reveals hiking and mountain biking trails with sweeping valley views. A gondola carries visitors up to mountaintop dining and wildlife encounters — grizzlies roam the surrounding wilderness. After a day of high-adrenaline adventure, nearby hot springs and mountain lodges offer a gentler rhythm. Kicking Horse is dramatic and untamed, a place where thrill and tranquillity balance.
Radium Hot Springs
At the entrance to Kootenay National Park, Radium Hot Springs is famed for its vast open-air mineral pool set beneath towering cliffs. The water is naturally heated and rich in minerals, easing muscles after days of hiking, cycling, or winter skiing. The village itself is welcoming, with small inns and wildlife often wandering its streets. Surrounded by canyons, rivers, and alpine passes, Radium is both invigorating and restful — a gateway where Rocky Mountain adventure meets warm-water renewal.
Revelstoke
On the banks of the Columbia River, Revelstoke is a mountain town with a big reputation for powder skiing, steep slopes, and backcountry adventure. In summer, its alpine meadows and trails bloom with wildflowers, while rafting and climbing add energy to long days outdoors. Just outside town, hot springs like Halcyon and Canyon offer restorative soaks with views of forests and peaks. With its mix of frontier charm, outdoor culture, and geothermal renewal, Revelstoke feels both lively and restorative — a hub where wild landscapes and wellness intertwine.
Halcyon Hot Springs
Set on the banks of Arrow Lake in British Columbia’s Kootenays, Halcyon Hot Springs combines dramatic scenery with therapeutic waters. Modern pools overlook snow-tipped mountains, while rustic trails and lakefront cabins bring calm between soaks. The springs were long known for their healing properties, and today the retreat continues that legacy with mineral-rich pools, cold plunges, and serene forest surroundings. Halcyon is quiet and elemental, a place where mountains and water define the rhythm of rest.
Day 1. Arrive in Calgary
Touch down in Calgary, Alberta’s lively winter gateway. After collecting your rental SUV (fitted with snow tires for safe mountain driving), settle into your hotel and, if time allows, head downtown for a casual dinner and a stroll through the city’s buzzing core. Rest well—your Powder Highway adventure begins in earnest tomorrow.
Day 2. Calgary to Banff: Ice Fields & Alpine Town Charm
Drive west into the heart of the Rockies. Just under two hours from Calgary, Banff is a postcard-perfect mountain town surrounded by dramatic peaks. Check in to a cosy alpine hotel or lodge, then spend your afternoon exploring Banff Avenue, visiting the Whyte Museum, or soaking in the historic Banff Upper Hot Springs.
Day 3. Skiing Banff Sunshine or Lake Louise
Hit the slopes at one of Banff National Park’s world-class ski areas—either Sunshine Village for high-alpine terrain and long runs, or Lake Louise for wide-open bowls and stunning glacier views. After skiing, warm up in a local hot tub or sauna before dinner in Banff’s thriving food scene.
Optional: Ice walk in Johnston Canyon or sleigh ride
Day 4. Banff to Golden: Cross the Continental Divide
Enjoy a relaxed breakfast, then make your way across the Kicking Horse Pass into British Columbia. Arrive in Golden by early afternoon and settle into your chalet or lodge—many come with private hot tubs or fireplaces. Take in the rugged views and get ready for two thrilling days of skiing.
Day 5 & 6. Skiing Kicking Horse
Spend two full days on the mountain. Kicking Horse is known for steep and deep terrain, incredible backcountry access, and awe-inspiring views. After skiing, relax in a rooftop hot tub or indulge in a local craft beer and wood-fired pizza.
Day 7. Radium Hot Springs: Nature & Recovery
It’s a short and scenic drive to Radium Hot Springs, tucked into a red rock canyon at the edge of Kootenay National Park. Spend the morning snowshoeing or hiking a nearby trail before easing into the warm, mineral-rich waters of the natural hot springs. The setting is spectacular—mountains rising around you, steam rising into the winter air. Enjoy a relaxed evening in Radium or nearby Invermere.
Day 8. To Revelstoke: The Powder Capital
Drive north through deep valleys and snow-laden forests to reach Revelstoke, a resort that has become legendary among powder hounds. After settling into your lodge, perhaps with an evening soak in a hot tub under the stars, enjoy a hearty mountain meal and prepare for three thrilling days ahead.
Day 9 & 10. Skiing Revelstoke
With the highest vertical drop in North America and a reputation for reliable snowfall, Revelstoke delivers some of the continent’s best skiing. From glades and bowls to backcountry terrain, this is a paradise for strong skiers and adventurous spirits. In the evenings, unwind with après-ski drinks, local dining, and relaxing soaks—either in your accommodation or at one of the area’s wellness spas.
Day 11. Halcyon Hot Springs: Restorative Retreat
Drive south along the Arrow Lakes to reach the peaceful sanctuary of Halcyon Hot Springs. Nestled between the Monashee Mountains and the lake, this wellness-focused resort offers a soothing finale to your trip. Spend your afternoon soaking in natural hot mineral pools with panoramic views, followed by a quiet dinner and deep sleep in the mountain air.
Day 12. Return to Calgary or Kelowna
After a final morning soak or a peaceful nature walk, begin the journey back to Calgary (approximately 6.5–7 hours), or opt for a shorter drive to Kelowna for a return flight. Depending on your route, enjoy a final taste of mountain hospitality before ending your Powder Highway circuit refreshed, exhilarated, and already dreaming of your next alpine escape.
